Amar Dedic Dodges Newcastle Fallout After Bow and Arrow Incident
Newcastle's right-back Amar Dedic is on track to feature in Saturday's match against Fulham, despite a bizarre situation that unfolded in Northumberland this week. The 24-year-old sparked quite the commotion after being spotted with a bow and arrow, leading to a significant police response that included multiple armed units. Reports indicate that Dedic was out in the countryside with a friend when a concerned citizen alerted the authorities. By the time police arrived, Dedic had made his way back to his residence in the upscale Darras Hall area, where officers seized the equipment from his car. Thankfully, Northumbria Police determined that the bows and arrows were intended for recreational purposes and posed no danger to the public. Under UK law, hunting with a bow and arrow or crossbow is strictly prohibited, but there’s no indication that Dedic was engaging in any illegal activity. A spokesperson for the police noted they received the initial report around 1:55 PM on Wednesday, leading them to intervene shortly thereafter. Dedic, who joined the Magpies from Benfica for £29.5 million this summer, reportedly received some timely help from teammates Mark Gillespie and Paul Dummett. The duo happened to be driving past when they noticed the police presence and stepped in to diffuse the situation. Newcastle seems to view Dedic's actions as a moment of naivety rather than any wrongdoing, allowing the player to put the incident behind him as he prepares for the upcoming fixture.
